Northwell Health is seeking a Chair of The Department of Anesthesiology to lead our team at South Shore University Hospital. Candidates should have demonstrated management and interpersonal skills that will allow them to maintain and lead a team of exceptional physicians, CRNAs, and hospital staff to provide innovative care for the patients we serve. The newly appointed Chair of Anesthesiology will work alongside hospital and regional leadership, to grow and expand the clinical, administrative, and educational advancements of the Department.

Desired Qualities for the New Chair

• Quality and Operational Efficiency: Emphasis on driving absolute quality and enhancing operational efficiencies within the anesthesia department.
• Leadership: Seeking a transformational leader who can initiate change.
• Clinical Orientation: While leadership is paramount, maintaining a strong clinical component is important.
• Academic and Educational Focus: Interest in expanding academic pursuits, including research and education programs. 
• Anesthesia Residency Program: Providing leadership and strategic oversight for the department’s Anesthesia residency program to ensure its continued excellence and growth.

About South Shore University Hospital

South Shore University Hospital, formerly known as Southside Hospital, is a 341-bed tertiary care hospital that
is a major referral center for Suffolk County, Long Island. Centers of excellence include cardiology and cardiac
surgery, neurosciences, women's health and pulmonary. It has multiple specialty ICUs including medical, surgical,
